Simple And Natural Fall Tablescape On The Back Porch | See in this post how I decorated our table on the back porch.
I decided to do this simple and natural fall tablescape on the back porch. It is after all where we spend an awful lot of our time. I’m begging you to please ignore the missing grass in the background. We are still working on the landscaping back here since building the house. We’ve also cleared a bit of land back here, so there is a lot of bare ground right now. For a while now, I have let that stop me from venturing out to the back porch especially for photos. Recently, I decided to just do it anyway. The fact is, if you were a guest here actually sitting on our back porch this is exactly what you would see. So, go pour yourself a glass of sweet tea, sit back and consider yourself a guest on our back porch while you read this post. ;)
I started out with a light cream tablecloth, topped with a cream and gray runner. For the place setting, I used black chargers, buffalo plaid dinner plates, and white salad plates. Then I added the gray napkins and flatware. The clear glass goblets are my go-to glasses since they go with just about any kind of setting.
I drove out to the end of our driveway and cut some branches that have started to turn deep orange and red. Normally, I would walk or ride my bike, but in the evenings our neighbors have been seeing a BIG bear walk down the road, turn and walk straight up our driveway like he owns it. They have told us this all summer long. He can’t be seen but for so long because the way down our driveway up to the house is wooded. All they know is that he heads this way. On top of that, Pete has had several bears on his game cam which is back here in the woods not too far from the house. So, can you blame a gal for playing it safe?
The red, orange and green leaves add a natural element and color to the table. I added them to little white vintage vases I found at a local market. These serve as a low centerpiece where people can visit and talk without obstructed views.
We have eaten quite a few meals out here on the porch in the two years we’ve been here. Fall is my favorite season to be out here. As the temperatures cool we trade our sweet tea in for hot cider.
I had the pumpkin bakers from last year. How fun would it be to bake something special in the pretty white pumpkins and serve them as individual desserts? It’s those little things I love. You could easily use real little white pumpkins as well.
Don’t caramel apples just scream fall? Oh, I just love it all… the pumpkins, Brunswick stew, caramel apples, candied apples, apple butter, and apple cider. What did I miss?
I hope you all have enjoyed this simple and natural tablescape on the back porch. Do you like to decorate your porch for fall?
The plates and napkins I used for this table setting are no longer available. White plates are a classic and are always a good standby. I have my eye on these. Don’t you love the matte finish on them? I chose some items ( below) that are similar to what I have. You can see the things I switched out, but I like all of the items below and think they would pull together nicely. The pumpkins were purchased last year from World Market.

This is just lovely, Kim! Love the use of the pumpkin bakers, and I really like the stitched napkins! Pinning to two boards! Would you mind if I used this as a feature in my Tuesday Turn About?
Thank you, Julie! I wouldn’t mind at all! I feel honored, thank you for thinking of me!
This is great. I love dining asl fresco and the fresh greens you added really make for a stunning tablescape. AND the Carmel apples don’t hurt. :)
Thanks, Kristi! Al fresco dining is the best, especially this time of year. And yes, those caramel apples didn’t hurt one bit. ;)
Beautiful! I especially like the pumpkin bakers and centerpieces that were simply gathered. Thanks for the inspiration!
Super cute table setting! I just love the stitched napkins and the outdoor setting. Nice job!
Thank you so much, Holly! I love outdoor settings too, especially this time of year.
Beautiful tablescape! I love your choice of fabrics, where’d you find that tablecloth? And those napkins?!
I’m still looking for some perfect fabrics for my tablescapes, and find myself using my scarves ??♀️
I also love incorporating nature anywhere and everywhere I can find (that the cats can’t reach ?). Those branches with a brushing of orange are a perfect contrast to the assortment of greys.
Thank you, Steffani! The tablecloth and runner I’ve actually had, and I couldn’t tell you where they came from. The napkins are from Pier 1. And hey, I’ve seen scarves used on tablescapes before and they looked beautiful. ;) Thanks for stopping by!
