A glass of frothy Brazilian lemonade on a wooden board

Brazilian Lemonade

Serving Up Southern

Ingredients

  • 4 fresh limes, washed thoroughly (try to pick out thin-skinned limes)
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 6 cups water
  • 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk

Instructions

  • Wash limes thoroughly, then cut the ends off of each lime and cut into 8 pieces.
  • Put the equivalent of two limes in a blender along with half of the sugar, water, and condensed milk.
  • Blend up to 20 seconds. (Any longer than this will cause the drink to become bitter.)
  • Pour the pulp through a fine-mesh strainer that's been placed over a serving pitcher.
  • Repeat with the remaining limes, sugar, water and milk.

Notes

This beverage does not keep well and is best if served immediately over cubed or crushed ice.
